Therefore, the EAT concept was built so that Google can select and display appropriate search results. Initially, what is meant by "appropriate" is appropriate based on the search keywords entered by a user. Now, Google displays not only search results based on keywords, but also the credibility, validity, and reliability of an information source. Of course this requires a special algorithm and that algorithm is called EAT.

Let's have a simple example.

You are a student who wants to learn how to use React to build a login page. You decide to use Google to find React tutorials. In order for Google to display results that match not only the keyword "React tutorial" but also articles written by a web programmer, then Google will search each search result and display only articles that were actually written by a web programmer. In this way, not only does Google provide you with responsible information, but it can also maintain its reputation as the "best" search engine in the world.

At first glance, you think that EAT is trivial. Of course, if the information you're looking for is just about using React that anyone can write, then EAT doesn't really matter. However, imagine if what you are looking for is information about a disease or medicine. Of course, you want the information you read or view to come from an experienced doctor. If you think drug information can be obtained from a judge or the police, that's up to you. But some of the things we look for on the internet have to do with matters of life and death, right? This is where EAT becomes important; we need information provided by people who have expertise in the field, have the right to write the information, and can be trusted.

How does E-A-T Work?

To date, there is no complete explanation of how EAT works. Google does not publish an explanation of the EAT algorithm it uses. In fact, according to Danny Sullivan via Twitter, there is no technique that can be used to measure the EAT of a blog or website directly. He only mentions that data is collected through various techniques (as proxies) to say whether a content meets EAT standards (my paraphrase).

According to an article on Ahrefs, Google has a team to build special algorithms that can improve the quality of search results. In addition, they are also tasked with providing input to Google about the search results generated from the algorithm. Google then considers the search results and the feedback they get. If the result is positive, then the tweaked algorithm will be used.

There are many different views on EAT, even within Google itself. This divergence of views is truly troubling. How can I not say that if some Google people say that EAT is an algorithm while others say that EAT is not an algorithm?

Apart from that, another thing that bothers me is that the explanations about EAT and how EAT works are often different and even contradictory. Because everyone has their own explanation, so here is my explanation:

Google performs an indirect assessment of content by not only looking at the keywords used in the content but also identifying the author and source of the content.

How to Implement EAT on Blogger

As a Blogger, you are the content provider and your blog is the content source. Whether you are a beginner or experienced blogger, you must have applied various SEO techniques such as using SEO friendly keywords, SEO friendly Blogger templates, using the Keyword Golden Rule, SEO meta tags, and so on.
