Fixing Featured Image Not Showing When Sharing Post

WordPress post does not show thumbnail or featured image when shared via social media like Facebook or Twitter is a common problem. This problem can make your shared post unattractive and has less click. Here is the problem and a simple and fast fix.

Your shared post does not show thumbnail image because either the featured image is not set or the OpenGraph is not installed in your blog. Therefore, the first step to fix this problem is to edit your post and add a featured image if it is not set yet.



If after setting the featured image of individual post your shared post still does not show the featured image, then install a WordPress plugin that you can download from the link below.

To install a WordPress plugin, go to the dashboard and (1) click Plugins and then (2) Add New. After that, (3) browse the zip file of the plugin and click OK. WordPress will automatically upload and install the plugin. After the plugin is successfully installed, click Activate.


After having the plugin activated, you can try to share your WordPress post on the social media like Facebook. Do not forget to add the featured image in every post that you want to share.
